Women in Insurance (WIN) End-Of-Year Meet & Greet celebrates Leadership, Connection, and Empowerment

The Uganda Insurers Association (UIA) hosted the Women in Insurance (WIN) End-of-Year Meet & Greet on 5th December 2025 at the UIA Gardens, bringing together a dynamic community of women leaders and professionals from the insurance industry. The event served as a moment of reflection, celebration and renewed commitment to advancing women’s leadership within the industry.

This annual gathering offered an opportunity for participants to strengthen networks, share professional experiences and honor the milestones achieved throughout the year both individually and collectively by women who continue to transform the insurance landscape in Uganda.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Annet Katusiime, UIA Market Development Manager, speaking on behalf of the UIA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jonan Kisakye, expressed pride in the remarkable growth of the WIN network and the role it plays in shaping a more inclusive industry.

“This evening, we gather to celebrate every woman in insurance for the remarkable contributions you make to the industry and your respective organizations”. Ms. Katusiime extended appreciation to the WIN Executive Committee for its dedication and tireless efforts, reaffirming UIA’s steadfast commitment to supporting WIN’s initiatives that create spaces for women to grow, connect and shine.

WIN President, Hajjat Aphwa Kawaase Sebyala, also delivered a powerful message of recognition and encouragement. “We celebrate the remarkable women whose contributions continue to elevate and transform the insurance sector”.  She applauded women professionals for their resilience and leadership, highlighting their role in identifying and addressing gender-specific challenges that have traditionally hindered progression into senior positions. Hajjat Aphwa emphasized the importance of sustained mentorship, skills development and advocacy to ensure equitable professional advancement for all women in the industry.

The evening’s Chief Guest, Mrs. Aidah Nkwanzi Mwebaze, CEO of Britam Life Assurance (Uganda) in her address, celebrated WIN as a crucial platform that nurtures confidence, strengthens professional competence and amplifies the voices of women across the insurance value chain.

She reflected on the evolving landscape of the financial services sector, noting that women are increasingly taking up strategic roles and driving transformative change. Mrs. Mwebaze encouraged women to continue embracing leadership opportunities, investing in continuous learning and supporting one another to break barriers that still exist in the industry.

She emphasized that the future of insurance in Uganda will be shaped by innovation, ethical leadership and inclusivity, values she believes women are uniquely positioned to champion. She reaffirmed Britam’s commitment and personally her own, to empowering women through mentorship, career development and creating pathways for leadership within the sector.

The event concluded with moments of appreciation, networking and celebration, underscoring the importance of unity, shared purpose and collective progress. The WIN End-of-Year Meet & Greet once again demonstrated the power of bringing women together to inspire growth, strengthen industry representation and advance a more inclusive insurance sector in Uganda.
