The 15th Annual Insurance Agents Awards 2025, organized by the Uganda Insurers Association in partnership with the Uganda Insurance Agents Association (UIAA) & Insurance Training College (ITC) took place on Thursday, 30th April 2026 at Hotel Africana – Nile Hall, bringing together industry leaders, partners and agents to celebrate excellence and outstanding performance in Uganda’s insurance sector.
The annual awards ceremony that was held under the theme: Becoming a Champion of Protection: Performance & Purpose in the New Insurance Era, underscored the growing importance of professionalism, trust and innovation in driving the industry forward.
Delivering the opening remarks, UIA CEO - Mr. Jonan Kisakye appreciated sponsors, partners, member companies and the organizing committee for their role in making the event possible. He highlighted some of the key resolutions from the recently concluded convention, including; continued support for agents, strengthening collaboration with the Uganda Insurance Agents Association, increased backing for the awards and enhanced engagement with the Uganda Revenue Authority to address agents’ tax-related concerns. “This is a milestone worth celebrating and it calls for continued collaboration across the industry,” he said, urging stakeholders to work collectively towards sustained growth.

Mr. Saul Sseremba, Principal at the Insurance Training College (ITC), congratulated the UIA for consistently organizing the awards over the years. He emphasized the importance of reflection within the industry, noting that as we network, we need to put the industry first. He highlighted the critical role of agents as frontline ambassadors, building trust through ethical conduct and professionalism. He also urged the agents to use the occasion not only to celebrate, but also to reflect and improve.

Chairman Life Council and CEO of UAP Old Mutual - Mr. Kimathi Patrick, expressed appreciation to partners and agents whose efforts continue to shape the industry. He underscored the importance of resilience and professionalism. “Everyone who is a performer is capable of being a winner. Trust is built over time, and people need to appreciate your products. This is what makes you unique as an agent.” He also reflected on his role in establishing the awards, describing them as a vital platform for recognising and celebrating agents’ contributions.

The Chief Guest, Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Rt. Hon. Norbert Mao, commended the UIA for organizing the event and reaffirmed the critical role agents play in shaping public perception of insurance. Speaking in line with the theme, he urged agents to go beyond selling policies and focus on education and awareness. “Agents must motivate clients, not merely sell policies without explaining the real need for protection” he said.
He further emphasized the importance of compliance. “Why do we trust insurers? It is because you are licensed and operate within a regulated framework.” Acknowledging the challenge of low insurance penetration in Uganda, he called for intensified public education efforts. “We must continue to educate our people and raise awareness on the importance of insurance coverage.” He also pledged his Ministry’s support in strengthening the sector and invited continued engagement on reforms to build public confidence and support economic growth.
