The Insurance Regulatory Authority officially launched the Annual Insurance Week 2026 on 24th February, 2026 at Insurance Towers. The Insurance Week will take place from 19th to 26th March 2026 at Lower Constitution Square (City Square) under the theme “Future Eri Ku Sure Ne Insure.” The Uganda Insurers Association is participating as a partner & sponsor of the week.

Speaking at the launch, the Insurance Regulatory Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Alhaj Dr. Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega, described the Insurance Week as a vital platform for bridging the gap between the industry and the public. “Insurance Week is a strategic platform designed to increase public appreciation and uptake of insurance by bringing industry players closer to the communities they serve through direct engagement, education and awareness initiatives,” he said.

Unlike previous editions, this year’s program will run for a full week and will feature a broad range of community-centered activities, including health outreach initiatives such as blood donation drives and eye check-ups.

UIA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jonan Kisakye, emphasized the broader vision behind this year’s theme. “Future Eri Ku Sure Ne Insure points to the growing importance of building a more inclusive, innovative and trusted insurance sector for all.” He also noted that the theme aligns with UIA’s ongoing Motor Third Party Digital Stickers campaign, which seeks to enhance transparency and increase Motor Third Party Insurance uptake.

Mr. Kisakye added that the Insurance Week provides a vital opportunity to showcase the true value of insurance to the public, while strengthening community engagement and fostering trust across the sector. He further highlighted the importance of the Insurance Innovation Awards, which recognize technologies and products that meaningfully advance innovation within the industry.

Mr. Sande Protazio, Director of Strategy and Market Development at the Insurance Regulatory Authority, noted the importance of meaningful public engagement, “While many Ugandans are aware of insurance, awareness alone is insufficient.” He explained that engagement begins with listening especially to those at the very end of the value chain so that policies and services reflect real business and community realities. He also emphasized that the Insurance Week is designed to take services directly to the people by moving beyond office spaces and engaging communities where they live and work, ultimately strengthening trust, inclusion and resilience across the insurance sector.

The Annual Insurance Week 2026 is therefore expected to serve not only as a platform for awareness, but also as a catalyst for deeper industry-community collaboration and a more responsive, inclusive insurance landscape in Uganda.
