On Monday 25th August, 2025, the Uganda Insurers Association (UIA) hosted the Welcome Cultural Dinner of the 47th OESAI Annual Conference & AGM. The dinner that took place at the Ndere Cultural Centre under the theme: A Night of Unity in Diversity served as the official opener for the 47th OESAI Annual Conference & AGM. The evening’s theme was brought to life through music, cultural attires, and local cuisines. Performances by the Ndere Troupe showcased the richness of the African culture.

Ms. Ruth Namuli, Board Chairperson of the Uganda Insurers Association, delivered the opening remarks on behalf of the Uganda Insurers Association, the Executive Commiittee, and the wider insurance fraternity. She explained that the dinner’s theme, A Night of Unity in Diversity, was not only a reflection of the evening’s celebration but also a true embodiment of OESAI’s mission of building a stronger African insurance industry through collaboration, innovation, and mutual learning. She noted that Uganda was deeply honored to host this year’s conference, a gathering that allowed the country to share not only its financial and insurance expertise, but also the heartbeat of its heritage and traditions, adding that the diversity of the music, food, and culture on display represented Africa’s uniqueness, resilience, and potential for growth.

She highlighted that just like the African cultures differ yet remain interconnected, so are the continent’s economies, markets, and aspirations for financial inclusion. She stressed that OESAI provides a platform to turn these differences into opportunities for growth and better service delivery, anchored in a deep understanding of people’s needs.
