UIA recently made a UGX 100,000,000 donation to the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) for the purchase of a new ambulance. UIA CEO Jonan Kisakye handed over the donation to URCS Secretary General – Robert Kwesiga at the UIA Offices in Kololo.

At the handover ceremony, Jonan said that UIA’s donation is in appreciation & support for URCS’ commendable charity work. He emphasized UIA’s commitment to road safety and thanked URCS for being at the fore front of saving lives, a key reason for the partnership.

While receiving the donation on behalf of URCS, Robert Kwesiga thanked UIA for boosting the Red Cross’ task of saving lives. He spoke about URCS’ quality standards set by the International Federation for Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies which ensures the use of fully equipped ambulances with at least one medical personnel on each ambulance to support the patient thereby guaranteeing UIA accountability for the contribution.

Philip Higiro, UIA’s PR Officer noted that the plan to get the new ambulance for the URCS is well underway with UIA actively mobilizing its members to contribute to the cause and ensure that the goal is achieved by April 2024.

This kick starts the fundraiser campaign dubbed “The First Aid Box” that seeks to raise a total of UGX 300,000,000 needed to purchase the new ambulance for the URCS.
