While briefing the research team that is going to undertake the Insurance Coverage and Needs Study, our CEO - Jonan Kisakye noted that research is an important aspect of the association’s operation as we strive be more valuable to our members. He mentioned that the penetration of insurance is still wanting with a meagre contribution to the economy and that we must ride along sectors that are doing well to grow the penetration. He explained that this need led to the selection of KACITA & UMA as some of the focal bodies - to understand them better, know the members better, how they consume insurance, the covers they take, the relevance of these covers to their circumstances, the challenges they face, and to also find out if their claims are actually being paid. “To grow the industry, we must provide solutions to the challenges of the day” he added.

Jonan emphasised that the research team is very critical to what the association is trying to achieve because the industry will rely on them since their information is to be used by the entire industry. He urged the team to be very careful with the way they collect information and understand the objectives of the research. He also assured them that UIA is a strong body when it comes to education and integrity and pledged to offer all the support the team requires to do a good job.
