On 30th July 2025, our team had the honour of attending the Graduation Ceremony of the Social Business Accelerator Programme (SBAP), Cohort 7 (2024–2025), held at the Egret Skilling Hub in Kajjansi, hosted by Capital Solutions Limited. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the journey of Uganda’s emerging social entrepreneurs who successfully completed an intensive six-month programme designed to strengthen their capacity to deliver sustainable impact in their communities.
The event brought together graduates, mentors, partners, and stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of entrepreneurs committed to driving social transformation. Through the SBAP, participants received hands-on training, mentorship, and access to essential resources to help them build resilient, purpose-driven enterprises.
Guest of honour, Ssentongo Lawrence, the Executive Director for Environmental Alert, in his remarks, commended the growth and determination of the graduates, describing the moment as a vital first step towards success. He expressed gratitude to the board and management of Capital Solutions and the Uganda Insurers Association for the continued efforts in supporting social enterprises and fostering passion among young entrepreneurs.

Dr. Joyce Tamale, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Capital Solutions, in her opening remarks, extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates for their resilience and dedication throughout the programme. She acknowledged the Uganda Insurers Association as a key partner, noting that the collaboration has played a pivotal role in the programme’s success and sustainability. Dr. Joyce highlighted that, through this strategic partnership, many businesses have scaled operations and created meaningful contributions to their communities, ultimately driving socio-economic impact.

She emphasized the importance of corporate branding in sustainable business growth and encouraged the graduates to act as catalysts for change by mentoring and inspiring fellow social entrepreneurs. Dr. Joyce concluded by urging the new alumni to take part in the upcoming Pitch Festival and continue positioning themselves as leaders in innovation, community transformation, and inclusive economic development.
Representing the Uganda Insurers Association, our Market Development Manager, Annet Katusiime, delivered the closing remarks on behalf of the CEO Jonan Kisakye. She expressed appreciation to Capital Solutions for its continued collaboration and commitment to nurturing a new generation of social entrepreneurs in Uganda. Annet congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of the training, describing it as a journey defined by innovation, responsibility, and a strong focus on social impact.

She also stressed the critical role of such initiatives in building capacity and enhancing access to finance and insurance, key enablers of risk mitigation, particularly for women and youth. In doing so, she noted that the programme directly supports Uganda’s broader development goals and aligns with UIA’s mission to create lasting, community-based impact.
In conclusion, she remarked that, the successful completion of the programme reflects the graduates’ resilience, ambition, and commitment to building enterprises that prioritize both people and purpose.
