The Insurance Week 2025 took place from March 10th to 14th at the Millennium Park in Lugogo, bringing excitement to Uganda's insurance industry. The activities revolved around the theme "Redefining Insurance: Trust, Innovation & Inclusivity." The week is aimed at making insurance more appreciated & accessible to every Ugandan. Members of the public had the opportunity to interact with industry experts, learn more about insurance in a fun and casual way, with some walking away with exciting giveaways.
The UIA tent was a hub of activity, with visitors getting valuable knowledge on insurance; finding out more about the different lines of Insurance: Life, Non-Life, Medical & Reinsurance. Guests walked away with valuable knowledge & insights on the role insurance can play in their lives. During the Week, UIA, alongside the other exhibitors was involved in an insurance procession, in a bid to popularize insurance.
At the official opening, our Senior Technical Officer for Life, Pensions & Medical – Badru Bengo representing our CEO, emphasized the importance of public engagement for the growth and survival of the insurance industry. He acknowledged that many Ugandans still see insurance as distant and overly complicated. However, he expressed confidence that activities like the Insurance Week can transform this perception. The direct interactions provide the public with a chance to ask questions, clear doubts, and truly understand the real value of insurance. Badru added that it’s critical to build trust which can only be established through transparency and education.

UIA CEO – Jonan Kisakye took time to traverse the numerous tents at the Insurance Week, interacting with the exhibitors, the bulk of whom are our members.

The Annual Insurance Week was organised by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) in partnership with the Uganda Insurers Association (UIA), Insurance Training College (ITC), Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda (IBAU), Africa Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re), Zep-Re, the Uganda Bankers Association (UBA), Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA), the Institute of Public Accounts of Uganda (ICPAU), Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), the Insurance Appeals Tribunal (IAT) and Women in Insurance (WIN).
